Chamber Committees

Interested in joining a committee?  Choose your committee and send us an email at info@bluewaterchamber.com to let us know you want to participate.  You'll be added to the committee roster and receive information on meetings.

If you have not attended a committee meeting before, please check with chamber staff to ensure the next committee meeting date/time and location.  The schedules below are standard, but subject to change.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
Monthly meeting of the Governance Committee (officers) and directors who are the policymaking body of the chamber.
Meetings:  4th Wed., 7:45 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.
Location:  Blue Water Community Action Agency, 302 Michigan Street, Port Huron

ADVOCACY - WE ARE THE VOICE OF BUSINESS:
Public Affairs Committee
- address and speak to issues that affect our members and business community in general regarding taxation, environment, border security, commerce, health care, and pending legislation.  Facilitate annual State of the County Address and other civic events and council candidate forums.
Meetings: 1st Wed., noon-1 p.m.
Location: Chamber office - conference room

EDUCATION:
Annual Leadercast Committee
- The annual Leadercast program is a world-reknowned, full-day leadership development program simulcast from Atlanta, GA to over 5,000 locations all over the globe - including Port Huron, Michigan.  The Leadercast Committee coordinates our local host site and special activities to offer area professionals a one-of-a-kind leadership retreat at an affordable price and close to home.
Meetings: 3rd Tuesday, 9-10 a.m.
Location: Chamber office - conference room

GOLF:
“Drive Fore Success” Golf FUNdraiser
- The annual golf outing fundraiser is the sole fundraising event for the chamber operations and supports technology improvements geared at promoting our members in the most effective ways.  The committee coordinates a fun day on the course with a networking reception, dinner and prize party afterward.
Meetings: Monthly, Feb. ‐ Sept., time TBD
Location:  SEMCO Energy Gas Company, Conference Room

NETWORKING: Relationships. Referrals. Rewards.
For the serious networkers, a more formal agenda is followed and provides an opportunity for members to share a 30-second commercial, showcase their business by being a spotlight speaker or interviewee, and share testimonials and referrals among the group.
Meetings: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 7:45AM – 9:00AM
Location: Please check with us, rotates quarterly

Business After 5 (BA5) Networking Mixer Committee -
The committee coordinates monthly social networking mixers held on the 2nd Thursday, 5-7PM, at qualified member establishments and plans networking activities and games, 50/50 raffles, door prizes, food and beverages and entertainment for the events.
Meetings:  3rd Thursday, noon - 1 p.m.
Location:  Chamber office - conference room

FINANCE:
Financial Oversight Committee
- members volunteer to analyze the monthly financial reports of the 501c6 operations and the 501c3 chamber foundation, including the income statement, cash flow report, A/R report, membership reports, and balance sheet.  They also ensure we maintain a benchmark of cash on hand.
Meetings: 3rd Tuesday, noon – 1PM

AMBASSADORS:
Blue Water Ambassadors Committee
- spreading the chamber cheer and engaging members and non-members alike, this group of outgoing, positive professionals organize grand openings and ribbon cuttings, member outreach and new member recruitment, attend the annual ambassador conference, and volunteer to assist when needed in other areas.
Meetings: 4th Tuesday, Noon – 1PM
Location: Baker College of Port Huron, Port Huron Township
