Chamber announces 2013 Business Guide  

Edition will feature “Restaurateurs & Entrepreneurs”  

 

 

Port Huron, MI,  - The Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce will print its annual business directory in January 2013, with 10,000 copies of the full color, glossy, magazine-style publication distributed to MDOT welcome centers, businesses and high traffic locations throughout the Blue Water area, including Sarnia, Ontario.   In 2012, the theme of the guide was focused on cross border commerce; however, with the resurgence in downtown storefronts and restaurants, the Chamber will feature articles on private developments, restaurateurs and entrepreneurs, and an enhanced Blue Water Area map and restaurant guide.   Businesses  interested in more details should call Pam Withorn, Harbor House Publishers, (800) 491-1760 or visit www.harborhouse.com/bluewaterregion.htm.

 

Businesses and organizations that are active chamber members will receive a complimentary listing in the publication.  Non-members are encouraged to enroll now to ensure a listing in the publication.  Membership applications are available online at www.bluewaterchamber.com or can be completed at the chamber office at 512 McMorran Blvd., Port Huron.

 

Each chamber member is listed by category, including contact person, address, phone, and website.  Additionally, businesses can purchase low-cost advertising in the publication and can have professional ad design created for a fee.  In 2012, a digital version was added providing direct links to chamber member businesses.  This year, enhancements offered include half-page and full-page business features, combining editorial and advertising resembling a magazine article in content and appearance, videos, and customized QR codes – a growing trend in mobile marketing.

 

The chamber uses the printed guide to promote businesses both inside and outside the region.  Advertisers gain valuable exposure to thousands of individuals, companies and prospects that will use this tool to make their buying decisions over the next year.   The chamber’s online business directory is updated daily and receives over 400,000 keyword and category searches per month.

 

“With our members’ support, the Chamber can produce this high quality publication to be used for economic and business development,” said Vickie Ledsworth, chamber president.

 

The chamber began publishing the annual business guide in 1941, during a time when the community was actively recruiting new business and industry, and residents, to the area. 

 

“In 1941, we saw employment jump by 1,000 workers in just 60 days as industry grew, so the chamber was aggressively recruiting new people to the area with the production of our first ‘Blue Water Visitors Guide’.  We continue to be a leading business resource in the Blue Water area.”
