Small Business Council Developing Business Benchmark Survey

The Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce made an introductory presentation to the Port Huron City Council on Monday, July 13, providing an overview of the how the Chamber will utilize $50,000 in small business assistance funding in the 2009-2010 fiscal year.
Chamber President, Vickie Ledsworth announced that she has created a Small Business Council that will work in cooperation with the City Manager based on shared goals and values to fulfill small business development objectives.
The Small Business Council was formed in June after receiving budget approval from the City Council and unanimous support from the Chamber’s Board of Directors. “The Chamber welcomes the opportunity to work alongside the Council to assist small businesses throughout the City,” she said.

Business Benchmark Survey

The first goal of the Small Business Council, chaired by David Brandt, CFO of E & A Credit Union is finalizing a business benchmark survey that will be distributed in August to all businesses in the City of Port Huron. A compilation report will be shared with City Council in September. The results will help the Chamber and City identify changes and improvements in public services, private development and business assistance.
