Zoom Tips and Tricks

Zoom
Made Easy for you.
Brought you by your Chamber friends!

Beginner Tips and Tricks
 Rules to Follow
  • Don’t publicly share your meeting ID, and if you’re having a public meeting, don’t use your personal meeting ID (PMI); use a randomly generated meeting ID (as explained in this video) instead.
  • Use the waiting room feature to ensure that only people you know get into the chat.
  • Limit meetings to those who are logged in to Zoom. If you want to be even more strict, you can even limit your meeting to those people whose email addresses use a certain domain (such as your company’s or school’s).
  • Prevent attendees from screen sharing without your consent.
  • Lock meetings that have already started to prevent new people from joining midstream.
  • Mute and unmute with the space bar When you are called on to speak, stop scrambling to click the microphone button. You can press and hold the space bar to quickly mute and un-mute your mic, right from your keyboard.

Step by Step
In this Zoom tutorial for beginners, we look at how to use Zoom and get started with the Zoom video conference calling system. You can use Zoom for conference calls or Zoom for online teaching, remote learning, host a Zoom webinar, or even catching up with friends.

This Zoom tutorial is aimed at people brand new to Zoom and who are using this app for the first time or have been asked to set up a Zoom call but have no idea where to start! It's also ideal if you've used Zoom in the past but want a few tips on how to get the most from Zoom.

In this Zoom video, we use the free (Basic) version but also mention some of the features available to paid Zoom users. In this video, we focus on using Zoom on a PC or Mac rather than on how to use the Zoom apps.
